Cloverleaf, I bet was easier for you than it was for us that were born here to get used to the metric system. Rolly, I still have to think in pounds. As far as gas goes I've gotten used to metric. Lisa, London, Ontario is pretty nice. I miss the days when we could go back and forth between countries without passports. Great tips, Susan. I suppose I take all these things for granted now, but when I first moved here from the UK it took a while to figure out how fast I was driving. Metric is something that we have gotten somewhat used to but most of us still look at things in the old imperial system. I lived in London for about 6 months in 2000. The people are wonderful there. I loved going to the markets there. LOL Great hub with a lot of information for those visiting! Sharyn, Thanks so much.
Great hub idea Susan and very helpful! So glad that you found this useful and thanks for letting me know. Tina, thanks so much. Hi Susan, we have the metric system here too and it feels good to know that I would have no problem with that if I visit Canada! But I can imagine that it is a problem and takes time to get used to. Great and useful information for everyone who travels! Hi susan, it is hard trying to factor in all those changes and you have thought of some sensible suggestions. I'm forever converting fahrenheit to centigrade or vice versa. Here's a topical joke. A fellow went into a hardware store and said. I'd like a yard of three by two please mate? Thanks so much and I am glad that you all found this useful. Helpful information, Thank for your sharing. Geez, I felt like i was back in nursing class 101, trying to learn the metric system, to me it's confusing, but only because we don't use it. Your info. is useful. I'll bookmark this hub. I hope I can use this information when I visit to this country someday.
Excellent and very well written. Thanks for share with us. Vote up as always. This will really come in handy when I finally do go to Canada! I have been wanting to visit for years now so it will no doubt be one of my first trips after I slow down working (soon hopefully). Very complete Hub Susan! Pam, I think there are only three countries that do not use the metric system. I am not positive about this though. Thanks for your comment. Great information to travel to many countries as so many countries use the metric system. You can tell I am not a world traveler. In the old days one could just drive across the border. We didn't plan ahead and get Canadian money and it was after hours for the banks. Thus as I recall there was some loss in not having Canadian dollars. It was several years ago so I forget the details. It didn't amount to very much anyhow. Dave, When I went to school in Montreal we sang God Save The Queen every morning before beginning classes. It's a shame that it is not sung any more in the schools here. There are so many people that feel the same way as you when it comes to the metric system. Thanks so much for your comments. I am surprised to hear that. Canadian banks will exchange American money at the current exchange rate. Susan: I am a 64 year old, born and raised fourth generation proud Canadian. I was born under the Union Jack as my flag and God Save The Queen as my national Anthem a member of The British Commonwealth, one of the few who can hold either Canadian or British Passport, as I choose. I don't mind O Canada as an anthem but I still prefer the Union Jack as my flag.

What a great place to live as a child! You probably spent a lot of time in Beacon Hill Park. I smiled to myself when I read your comment regarding the ducks and the mess they make. I enjoyed reading about your time spent at Victoria's lovely Beacon Hill Park. When I was younger, we lived in Victoria. One thing I was afraid of was falling into the duck pond there. It was so mucky-dirty from the ducks.
But other than that, the park is pristine as you say in your hub. It truly is a peaceful place to visit. Voting this up, across and sharing. Happy to have you tag along on my journeys.
